A little bit about FatCreations....

After an accident whilst racing my bike in 1997 I was not training for the first time in years and was forced to take time out as a result of injury. I needed something to fill my time with, I was used to spending hours training, now I couldn't I knew I would go insane unless I found something to do. So I brought myself an airbrush and that's when it all began.  It became my passion and the more I did the more my confidence grew with my new found skills. My friends and family started to approach and ask if I could do some artwork for them. The reactions I got to my work blew me away. Friends of friends started to approach me to do work for them and so it went on. Word got around that I was a pretty awesome painter (I hate to blow my own trumpet!!) and pretty soon I was thinking about doing it as a career. My confidence had grown but its one things for your mates to say wow and another to expect the same reaction from someone paying you to create something that they will be amazed with, that's no easy task.

In 2001 I bit the bullet and so FatCreations was born! I have been doing it ever since and most of my work still comes my way by word of mouth. My passion has become my lively hood, and I get true job satisfaction as my customers seem completely amazed with the finished products.

A little bit about the man behind FatCreations....

Here is a little about me and my past.....My name is Alistair McLean, and mountain bike racing was once upon a time my life!

I spent six years winning everything locally and regionally in the cross country discipline. Gaining top five finishes at national expert level then I moved onto the discipline that most suited my adrenaline fuelled personality and spent the next five years at the very top of down-hill mountain bike racing in the UK. I raced with and for team Great Britain in both the world and European championships. I had many factory sponsors. Throughout my racing career I was a full time bike tester and occasional column writer for an international mountain bike magazine.
My job alongside my racing was a research and design engineer at a mountain bike product manufacture (ultimate sports engineering). While I was there I learnt allot about titanium's and alloys light weight, but strong was the name of the game. I helped design products from key rings too suspension forks and I was responsible for the bench and practical testing of our and our competitors products.
Working there for seven years I got to the top of the ladder but I decided I had to have a new challenge. By now my two wheel affair included the engine type, off road 1st naturally started racing enduro and motor-cross. I was dam slow for a while but then I got the hang of it. I won the regional hair and hounds championship in my class mx and overall seems that I am tuned too going pretty fast for 3 hours + rather then very fast for a few laps. I enjoyed mx but my successes were few and far between so enduro was the off road one for me.

Well now you know my name and a little bit about me. If you haven't already I am sure you will take a look through my work. Enjoy and please don't hesitate to contact me.
